When I arrived to South Florida, much of my learning journey as a newcomer to the region (and to the field of development) started at the events organized by these events. I’ve gone to events set up by these wonderful organizations, and I highly recommend, if you get the chance, to at least give one event a try.
The Lab Miami
The LAB Miami, located in the Wynwood Art District, besides being a local incubator for early-stage start-ups holds tech meetups, events, conferences, and talks regarding tech and entrepreneurship. For a list of events you can check here.
Refresh Miami, the largest technology meet-up in South Florida, organizes biweekly events that deal with technology, entrepreneurship, and breakthroughs in science. For a list of events you can check here.
Venture Hive incubates and accelerates a few start-ups in Miami, and sometimes hosts events and start-up competitions.
Startup Weekend is an set of 72 hour events aimed at launching Start-ups. Regardless if your team ends up building what you had in mind or not, Startup Weekends help place you in a room full of mentors, collaborators, and technologists, to get a discussion going and feedback happening. Micro Venture Capital Club of South Florida
The MVC Club holds weekly meetups where VCs listen to pitches, provide feedback, and other entrepeneurs go to help refine and improve your ideas. It’s a great way to see real entrepreneurs sell their ideas and businesses to potential investors.
